Flight Pheasants for Hunting Preserves
Established in 1941 our stock in trade is our flight pheasant. Through the generations we have been a leader in developing the most modern and efficient techniques for raising the best looking and high performance pheasants found anywhere.
We feature two distinct genetic lines of ring neck pheasant.
First the Ringneck:
This is a line of flight pheasant that has both sporty flight characteristics and a body weight that is close to most native species of pheasant. The cock bird runs 2 ¾ to 3 pounds in the feather and the hen about ¾ pound lighter. The cock birds sport more mahogany breast feathers with bluish green backs.
The second, and when running our hunt club my favorite, the Kansas Blue Back:
Developed in Kansas by the late Bernie Jansen this is a small and incredibly fast flying bird that will bust out of the cover, some say as fast as a grouse. As the name indicates this pheasant has a powder blue back and features lighter feathers on its breast. The cock birds weigh right about 2 ¼ pounds with the hens coming in at about ½ pound lighter. If you are running European Shoots, this is your bird.
